Im going to berlin next month, im staying in potsdam has anyone been here, any tips on places to go, nightlife, etc..

    The Reichstag is pretty cool, you can go up and visit the Dome for free – pretty decent view of Berlin from there. If you've never seen the sights the free tour is good (see newberlintours.com). The guides know their stuff and it can be a laugh. Worth seeing all the usual sights. Prenzlauer Berg is good for nightlife, Icon is a quality club worth checking out there. Some good places in Kreuzberg too. Pick up a copy of Zitty (like Time Out) or go to their website, better still get the advice of someone who knows their away around...lots of decent places in Berlin are marked by a plain door and not much else, things move around and places seem to be opening and closing all the time. Stuff isn't always advertised either. Have a good time, I'm sure you will, Berlin is an amazing place.

    Oh, if you don't know any German a phrase book will come in handy. Esp in what was East Berlin English isn't spoken by all. Lots of people in supermarkets, kebab shops, etc don't speak English.
