MSN help?

I know this is the wrong forum but was hoping for some quick replies, shouldn't take more than a few minutes for someone who knows what they're doing.

I haven't been able to connect to any form of messenger on my stepdad's PC and I have no idea why, it says that my gateway appears to be offline? Yet the internet is on and working and messenger won't repair it. Any help?

    Uninstalling and reinstalling? Shouldnt take more then five minutes.

    Whats your gateway got to do with MSN

    I can understand if your router is blocking it or something

    tried re-installing it. It tests your connection if it can't connect, the second thing is the gateway it checks and it says mine is offline.

    Coolme when will you learn to spell EXPLORER!!

    Are you sure he doesnt have any programs on dissalowing it with parental controls or such. Maybe a firewall?
