What is this thing, or are you just a wiley spammer?

Mmh.
its not something many have heard of,though on a thread here it was mentioned.
of course those of you who do callanetics will already know what it is.
What is Callanetics?
Callanetics is a non-impact exercise programme developed by Callan Pickney which uses small, tiny, precise movements (pulses) to shape the body and produce visible results fast.
How long has the Callanetics programme been around?
Callan has been teaching her programme privately for 30 years. Her first book was published almost 15 years ago and her first video was released shortly after that. Certified classes have been available for just under 10 years.
Is Callanetics like aerobics?
No, the Callanetics exercises tone and shape the body much faster than aerobics.
How long do you have to do the Callanetics exercises before you notice results?
Most students can feel a difference in their bodies after their first class. Most students can actually see a difference after their second class.
What do I wear? With regards to clothing, just come along in whatever you normally would wear to a gym or exercise class - something comfortable. You don't need trainers as we do the exercises in socks or barefoot. The studio has a nice comfy carpet, so there is no need to bring a mat.
We heard that the Callanetics exercises are good for people with bad backs and problem joints. Why is this so?
Several reasons:
1. The Callanetics programme is completely non-impact so there are no movements that jar the spine or any other joint for that matter.
2. While performing the exercises the body is in a safe comfortable position with the pelvis curled up, the back is in a safe comfortable position.
3. The Callanetics exercises strengthens the deep postural muscles through the entire hip, back and shoulder areas. This strengthening and relaxing helps to keep the body in healthy, pain free alignment.
What are some of the chronic diseases that Callanetics exercises help manage? Scoliosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Crone's disease and many, many more.

I'd forgotten all about it! Thanks, I may start now.
And tbh, go watch M.A.S.H. I think in every episode they are doing some
thats great that u enjoyed it so much
sounds like you keep pretty fit.awesome that callanetics was done as part as your training,I think it certainly reaches places other excercises dont.
It has helped me gain strength to dance which is what I always wanted, makes my dancing so much easier.
I never seen M.A.S.H...I know,such a sheltered life eh..LOL
have a great day,in fact have the best day ever

no definatley not, callisthetics is based on the movements of gymnastics, and wasnt created by callan pinckney.
callanetics was created on ballet and middle eastern movements by callan pinckney.
her story is very inspiring if you ever get the oppurtunity to hear/read it.

I first heard about Callanetics from a girl in my class when I was doing Dance GCSE at college in 1989. She said it was quite hard work but really gave results.
It sounded good so I told my mum about it.
Good old mum duly bought 'Callanetics' for me.
Mum and I tried it together and we did indeed find it hard work!
It went back in the box and it stayed in the sideboard for several years!
Then in 1996, I felt I needed to do something physical.
I was living away from home now, and the only fitness video I had with me was Callanetics.
I fetched it from the shelf and vowed to start it and stick with it no matter what.
I kept a little notebook of the dates I did the tape, and I felt that helped keep me dedicated.
I did Callanetics nearly every day for about four years!
My body toned up incredibly!:crazyeyes I also felt very light on my feet.
This year (2007) I have started again as I've been eating too much chocolate and crisps of late
How are you getting on?
Take care,
Kat
how wonderful to hear from you!!
welcome back to the magic of callanetics,do you have a routine?
I found callanetics about 12 years ago,did it ,got great results, then forggot about it for a time, when i had nmy 2 boys, what a state my body was in!!!oh dear, only callanetics could take on that challenge.
so last year i began,i started with an hour a week.
that brought me down from a uk size 20 to a size 16,In june,i stepped it up to 2 hours each week,I am now a size 12.
this month i stepped it up again to 3 times a week.
I challenged myself to ten hours in march-i have three more hours to go.:hyper: :hyper:
my callanetics days are:
Monday
wednesday
friday
great that your mum brought you to callanetics,I am so exited for you starting it again
very very best of luck to you sweet friend.

Iv been looking up things for my girlfriend
Even tho i think nothings wrong with her body and i love her for who she is
She doesnt feel happy with her body
I came across this
And i think it would suit here perfectly
But i dont think there is anywhere close by
I live down in cornwall
The very southwest of the UK
Also if there was a place found local enouth
I dont want her to feel i dont like the way her body is now
I just want her to feel more happy with it
As i know what its like to not feel happy with what you got
So does anyone know of any callanetics place in cornwall/exeter area
How much does it cost
Cause well neither of us are very well off
i have tried it in nj. where can i study it in boston?
Is it just me btw or are there loads of old threads getting brought up again on the boards these days?
