Jobs in Leeds

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
It looks like I'll be moving to Leeds in about a month's time - very sudden! So I need to get myself sorted with some kind of employment for when I get there. Can any Leeds folk recommend any temping agencies? Or is anyone interested in giving me a reasonably well paid job??!

Thanks in advance! :)

Yorkshire Evening post on Thursdays has quite a few jobs in it.

Job Centre on the Headrow a good place to check.
My best advice would be go in places and ask, Especially pubs and clubs.

Thanks for the replies, folks. :)

As I currently don't live in Yorkshire, it'll be a bit hard to get hold of a Yorskhire Post! Have checked out those sites and a few more like Reeds, I should be fine.

James, aren't there any vacancies at your place??!!!

I used to temp with blue arrow in leeds, and although I think the really good lady I spoke to has left now, all the others always seemed to be reasonably competent!

Not at the moment, by all accounts head office wont let them have any more at the moment, and all the part timers have been sent grovelling letters asking us to work more hours

But I shall check and get back to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

I've got an appointment with Reed in Leeds on Monday.

Number 1 - does anyone know where it is?!!

Number 2 - has anyone used Reed before? Any thoughts?

Do you have an address or anything? I've tried using Google but I'm hungover.

    Lands Lane?

I also need to know where Pret a Manger is? Near City Square I'm told...!

Pret a Manger is opposite the HSBC bank on Park Row, about 5 mins from City Square. Have a look on the map for Lands Lane, it's easier than trying to describe it, but its not far from the station.

I used to Temp for Reed, and I think it depends which branch you use as to how good they are. The Sunderland branch were excellent, really helpful and found work for me quickly, but the Newcastle branch were lazy bone-idle bastards. The branches in big cities tend to be filled with lazy people because there are more registered people than jobs. One thing you'll find with reed is that a lot of small local temping agencies will advertise with them, and they're usually a much better bet.

I managed to wangle myself a chat with the manager of a life insurance company on Monday... it's based in a big glass building, the entrance of which is behind Pret a Manger. Thanks for the directions :)
