Windows Vista & PC Games

Just a quick question.

Iv'e noticed that all the new PC's now come with Windows Vista.

On many PC games they say compatible with Windows XP or Windows 98, such games, will they still play perfectly fine on Windows Vista or not?

May be a dumb question but i don't really know much about that kinda thing :blush:

    Erm well they should support it because it has that directx thing.

    Well i'm getting a new PC soon so i was just making sure. I was thinking about such games as the sims :blush: do you know if that'd work?

    pretty sure theyll work as long as you have directx...

    played some shit old game the otherday with my housem8 and he ran it on vista (i.e. the kind of game noone would even think to include in making vista compatible for), so I think they pretty much all work reguardless.

    Yea, in theory all games should work as it is backwards compatible, the problem is when game developers write sloppy code, you need to hack it a bit to get it to work in Vista as apposed to XP. For example, in Vista, C&C Generals: ZH fails to start, so you need to write an options.ini (basic copy and paste job) - though in XP this is written the first time it boots.

    Little things like that though aren't a major issue, I prefer Vista tbh because although everyone complains about how lame it is (:confused:) if you do use it for a prolonged period of time it's just so much nicer to use, regardless of any 'under the hood' tweaks the main lovely nice bit is the improvements to the UI and the seamlessness.

    Just need a 22" Widescreen Monitor now :)
