Im not exactly sure. But I dont think its neccessarilly down to the persons weight. If they have issuea around food and go to lengths to avoid it and show typical behaviour of an anorexic then they would judge it on that.

*wonders why you're asking*

Well, not eating for a start (oh I can be obvious sometimes). I guess making excuses for not eating at meal times, like saying you've already eaten or don't feel well. Anorexia is a psychological illness and so often is teamed with other things, such as OCD or depression. By OCD I mean that an anorexic will be immaculate about recording what they have eaten, how many calories that includes, how many calories have been lost through exercise, and how this all relates back to weight loss. I think a lot of anorexics take cuttings from magazines and compare themselves.

Hope that helped! Freya xxxxx

Well Charley u have taken the first step to sorting it out. Just recognising that u may have anorexia means that u have seen its not a good thing to be doing and u must wanna sort it out...am I right? I suggest that u take a trip to your gp. He/her can refer u onto someone else who will be able to help u more. Its really important that u sort this out as u wont be able to do it on your own if its serious. I hope that u take this advice

Well u will no if its anorexia if u r not eating out of choice. If u have no appetite because of no reason other than u have no appetite then maybe it is the prozac...it does do that. Anorexics r aware that they r not eating because they r trying to loose weight, or maybe becuae they wanna have control over something or for many other reasons. Only u no if u r not eating out of choice...its good that u r going to your docters. Be honest or it will get u nowhere and good luck!

It's difficult to know if you're anorexic a lot of the time. I think it starts out throught a desire to be thin, but usually counting calories, and knowing exactly how much you've eaten in a particular day indicates signs of it.
But it's a self made decisions so you will certainly know whether or not you feel the urge to eat. For example, are you constantly hungry?
this is my amateurish explanaion. Hope i helped
take care

hi charley..
i think that anorexia is being below the normal weight for you build and height also if you are a girl you stop having periods. i read this in a psychlogy magazine. it said its about not being satisfied with who you are as a person and not feeling like you can satisfy peoples expectations of you...

i think you should seek help but i know thats easier said than done. ive been bulimic for the past 7 months and still cant find the courage to get help...
good luck though

i knw that this is not really mch to do with this, but my best mate was anorexic, and we were all quite young about 13 and the biggest mistake i have ever made was not telling some-one, as people would ask me and she wld say she was fine and protend she was eatting, but as i was living with her i didnt notice how much weight she lost, and how thin she was .

i really glad you have said something about this as you should never worry about your weight certinally not in teenage years!

i reslly hope you get though this, as she has and i still worry about her 4 years later.

but well done saying and hope u get through it!

Yeah, Anorexia can be a real grey area.
There's a good site, On Health. You can search for what you're looking up and it will give you articles, definitions, advice, etc.
I'm really sorry that you're going through this; it's something that I still grapple with on occasion and it isn't nice.
You can always e-mail me or ICQ me or whatever. My AIM name is the same as this one.
I would try looking up your symptoms on-line, but it would probably help to go to your GP as well. It's the old cliché, but it really is so much easier and better for you if you try to fix this early.
Good luck

If I could see my last post I would edit it, but I can't so...
I just remembered there is an Anorexia and Bulimia Support forum that may be helpful for you
