weird question but i was just wondering if anyone knows the answer....

assuming you eat something and the energy is not burned, how long approximately does it take for you body to turn it into 'weight' or mass, if you know what i mean?!

is it a day, 3 days, a week?!

thanks!

Well, As soon as it's in your body it is weight or mass, waiting to be used or incorporated, so it's a bit hard to measure when it becomes a "part" of your body. I honestly don't know this - and I'm not sure if anyone else truthfully does aswell. Lot's of people have ideas or theories - but no conclusive answer as far as I know.

The main thing is not how long food sits in your stomach, but the ratio of exercise/food intake averaged out over the week.

    thanks for replying,

yeah i know, its just that i weighed myself this morning and ive lost a couple of lbs and its been happening for a couple of weeks, but the thing is, ive been doing less exercise for the past 2 weeks and havent been eating as well as i usually do, so i was wondering if the weight loss if from when i was doing exercise and eating well before the past two weeks <--if that makes ANY sense!!!

The weight loss maybe your muscles becoming weaker because you aren't exercising as much so you are losing muscle and gaining fat (not being rude...just suggesting) because fat weighs less than muscle so this could be the weight loss you are seeing on the scales. are your clothes feeling tighter or looser or the same?

Some times if you have been eating slightly less and more healthy for a period of time and then you eat slightly more it can give your metabolism a kick so it works harder but i doubt it would have caused that much weight loss.

Apparently it takes 3-4 days (or so i was told!) for food energy to convert into being an actual part of your body, this gives your body the time to take all the protein, glucose, minerals etc that it needs and get rid of the waste.

    Does that help at all?

Actually it's amazingly quick - hours not days. And any energy you take in that is not needed is immediately stored as fat.

But to answer the question, Tinkabee is probably right - you may be losing lean tissue and not fat.
