Lots of people have a habbit of comfort eating - I wouldn't be so sure about calling it 'bingeing' - that would involve copius amounts of food in a small space of time.
You're not fat - you know that yourself and at the moment, at the weight you are at, losing weight isn't going to be the answer. More than likely you need to 'tone-up' which will make you look better as well as the exercise making you FEEL better. Try not to take too much notice of the weight on the scale, it is influenced by far too many factors and scales are for fish - not people. I'm afraid it all comes down to the same thing - a healthy diet and regular exercise. Comfort eating isn't going to make your homework go away, your boss nicer or your mum more lenient. It doesn't change anything and you need to find other things to do when you find yourself eating out of boredom or whatever. Don't become obsessed - it's boring and everyone needs a slice of chocolate cake every now and again. Don't deny yourself - it's all too easy to go all week without crisps and then go mad on weekends. It's all moderation and all that dull stuff.
If you're feeling bad about the way you look - do some exercise, join a class - DO stuff with yourself. Standing in front of a mirror hating your body never made anyone look any better.

Take it easy missus - don't be too hard on yourself.

8 stone sure isn't heavy for your height! If you really do feel bad, follow Miss Quoted's advice. I couldn't have put it better myself

Hey

Don't feel bad about binging, everybody does it once in a while.

If I binge I usually follow it up by going to the gym and working out fairly hard the next day. In theory I try to compensate for the previous days excess by doing this.

8 stone, and you're 5'1"... that's a very normal weight. Don't get too obsessed with an ideal weight because there are so many factors that make it up, like the amount of muscle or the size of your frame.

My health teacher once made a very good point about how useless body mass charts without the proper context. He had us calculate the Body Mass Index for some individuals based on heights and weights he gave us. Every one of them was considered obese. He then showed us where he got the numbers...they were all professional athletes.

So you're not happy with your body? Start out small. You'd be suprised how quickly it adds up. Walk a couple times a week instead of taking the bus, have a glass of water instead of a soda every now and then, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

I'm not advocating calorie counting. It doesn't work without some fitness because your body is smart and will adjust your metabolism to use fewer calories a day. However, finding a way to eat fewer empty calories every day will help you out.

did anyone hear about the test some people did in Japan where these men were given 3KG of potatoes to eat per day in order to loose weight and as long as they ate the potatoes, they could eat anything else that they wanted but of course, they lost weight 'cos of the fact they felt so full that their calorie intake was lower than b4! thats damn cool! i know this doesnt really have ne thing to do with the posts b4 like and i wouldnt advise you go and do this test ureself!!! lol!

Why not try excerising to get the body you want rather than losing weight, get someone at a gym to devise a programme for you. I am currently doing slimming world as I'm overweight. I've been doing it for three weeks and absolutely love it, the more I eat the more weight I lose, Ive lost 10lbs in three weeks and still get to eat chocolate and crisps!!!
