I think you should go down to the docs or talk to someone proffesional over the phone otherwise in the short term you will be in no fit state to get through your GCSEs. In the long term depression is a shite thing to have and it takes guts to admit to having a problem

Sounds to me like you need a direction in life. Go get some proffesional help and try some exercise, like walks for example.

Look for something you really desire doing, like travelling, a particular job, volunteer work (helping others may help you) or prehaps writing poetry. There's pleanty you can do.

You list your interess as smoking, drinking and boys. I suggest giving two of these up and doing some exercise. Really, a healthy body feels like no other, you have more energy, feel more awake and generally much better.

I'm sure you like music as well. Try learning an instrument.

Well, I'm just rattling on but you probably get the point. Plus - don't worry about your exams. They aren't exactly critical, you can retake them in later life, but tell your teachers, they may be able to get special dispensation for you on your marks.

I think talking to your doctor would be a good idea. Even if s/he isn't able to help (which they probably will be) it's better than sitting at home wondering.

    Good luck

    Hi there,

The sooner you go to the doctor, the sooner you can start to get better. It's good to hear that someone at school is looking out for you and cares about you - getting support is a great help if you're feeling down.

We have some resources here on TheSite that might be useful too: http://www.thesite.org/info/health/depression/

My friend was in your situation a few years back. At the time she didn't realise that she had a problem. She wasn't aware of it even and therefore was hardly going to admit to it. In the end she went to the docs because she was concerned about her health physically due to not wanting to eat or get up or anything. They offered her counselling and gave her prozac for a short period of time. The 'happy pills' were just something to help her get her life back in order and she was soon able to come off them and get on with her life. I'm not saying that all your problems will be solved by visiting the doctor but just talking to someone different may help.

Good luck and I hope my waffle made some sort of sense.

    *apologies but am in rush*
