I get really bad depression for about a week before my period, and I depress other people and generally feel like the whole world is against me, does anyone have any advice or tips on how to cope / feel better?

Hi BumbleBee, Just an idea from a male.
My G/F is a complete bitch when she is 'on' and serverly depressed for upto 2 weeks b4 and a right snappy cow a few days after!
Now she went to the doc's about it cos I could'nt put up with her much more.
Now the doc carried out a hormone balance test, Basiclly she had twice as much (forgive the spelling) estrogen or progestrone (I forget which way round it was) to the other hormone. The 'cure' was simple he prescribed the pill! The doctor had a range of pills each with differing ratio of estrogen to progestrone.
Every two months my g/f would go back to the doc's for a balance test and he would change the pill accordinly to the results. In all it worked to some degree, thou I think she does use it as an excues sometimes!
so ask your doc for a test and see what he says
Hope I helped, thou long winded it was!

I get depressed as well. Apart from the pill another way to control the moods is to change your diet a bit, try to eat plenty of fruit and veg. Get plenty of vitamin C and B6, which is good for controlling mood swings. I know it sounds like a drag but doing a bit of sport helps to relieve the stress a bit, it worked for me anyway!I dont go out running or anything, I go play tennis or something with my mates to make it more fun!

I reckon it sometimes helps to just get a few sappy videos out from the video store and just have a good cry or a good laugh.

Also helps to do exercise as it makes me feel a lot less agressive.

Crying is a good option to release emotions, but it always happens, with PMT...

I think most women suffer with some pmt every month, and we all come up with different solutions.I had very bad pmt a few years ago, to the stage that I got voilent. I went to my doc and explained and he prescribed me with some medication that I took for two months and was fine after, I do suffer with stroppyness and forgetfullness and a few other things but I find excercise b4 and during and carbohydrates increased b4 hand do help me. try you never know. good luck :

Being honest? I am Satan on earth when I'm due. I snap at everything and everyone, charge about being a bitch in general, and burst into tears at every little thing! My mates simply have to look at me and they can tell if I'm due, on or off.
Apparently people who suffer similiarly should go to the doctor. I'm doing so in a few weeks, and I'd probably request a female. Guys don't understand PMT that well. They can check your blood for imbalances and put you on something. I don't particularly trust the Pill though.

hey!

well i really shocked myself last night, i was due on, and me and my bf were getting ready to go out. he could not decide what to wear and this got me so angry i burst into tears and ended up throwing my bag across the room

i was quite scared by myself! and jamie was brill about it, he just said " you choose what you want me to wear!" bless him.

i know that he dont realise it at times but i do feel really sorry 4 him at times and i am so grateful he sticks by me!

i am also on the pill and it does calm my cramps and PMT down but yesterday i felt like i seriously could have killed someone!
