Is it logical?

Am I right in assuming that if I halved my calorie intake, and doubled the amount of exercise that I did, would my weight gradually half to what it is now?

I'm not sure if it would work, can anyone else inform or correct me on that?

    if it was based on maths, then one would have to assume that such a patter could continue all the way down to very small numbers. but since that's physiologically impossible...

    No.
    Most of the calories you consume will be used by your body for cellular things like repairing damage, active transport etc, and not on exercise so you don't actually have that much conscious control over how your body uses energy. As the reptile says, the physiology is very complex.
