Okay i've been reading up on it a bit, i understand the concept. 64 binary digits rather than 32, so it can do processes a lot faster?
I also read though you have to have the software to use it. Like a 64bit operating system. Does this mean all software you have must be 64bit, or can these 64bit operating systems run 32bit programs?

If the software isn't compiled in 64-bit, then you'll see minimal gains. The only gains you'll see will be because of improved processor design, not the move to 64-bit.
