I've got a cold sore on me head :( and it looks pretty manky. Well i look pretty manky anyway so now mankier ! No point using zovirax as my consultant said it doesn't work too well, except round the mouth. ANyone got any ye olde remedies for helping to heal it quicker ?

    Tea tree oil has antiviral properties. It's one of the few oils you can apply neat to the skin. Dab it on with your (clean) finger or a bit of cotton wool, and you can alternate it with lavender to soothe it as well if you so desire.

    Toothpaste is good at drying the sore out and making it go quicker.

    Are you sure it's not impetigo?

    That starts off a bit like a cold sore but you need antibiotics to get rid of it

    No, it's a cold sore. I get 'em all over (suppressed immune system) the ones on me bum cheeks are rank :(

    Well it seems to be going down on it's own so that's good, but thanks for the tips guys :) Next time i get one on me bum i'll do the toothpaste thing. Maybe i'll get a ring of confidence *ping* :D
