What happens when you block?

Question, if you block some one on this site...what happens? Does it mean you cant see their posts on threads or just not get messages from them?

    I'm not sure. I know you cant see their posts, they just have a placeholder 'you have this person on ignore. Click here to see the post'.

    It's pretty simple to write a program that generates it.

    Why didn't you just try it? Go on, you can block me for a bit to try it out if you want. I won't hold it against you. I don't see the point of it though really. Except that time someone posted a load of porn with mingers in, and I had to block him for the sake of my own eyes.

    I don't see the point in blocking people either, you'll always find curiosity gets the better of you and you unignore them to find out what they've said. Or someone else quotes them and you find out anyway. I think people just like to announce they're blocking someone for the attention..."Look everybody!     We couldnt possibly have debates if i ignored you could we? I like a good old debate, reminds me of my youth...i.e. a couple of years ago. Also, what cracked you up? Losing an argument? Not that funny, but whatever floats your boat ;)
    No, i was just thinking, some people post some right crap on here, not to mention the spammers and i was wondering, if they, a spammer or one of them who posts right crap about this that and the other, starts a thread but they are blocked...does their thread show up to you?

    Yeah, that's how it happened with me too. And in any case the main reason I had someone blocked (not saying names this time) was their habit of making about 10 posts in a row, and since blocking just replaces posts it didn't do much in that regard.
