well a man in lancaster has been detained for 90 for having "largest ever haul of bomb-making chemicals, rocket launchers and a nuclear biological suit" but the guy wasn't Muslim but a white ex member of the BNP who stood to be an MP
but they most shocking thing was that it hasnt made the news and that the police have said
"He's not a terrorist and it's not a bomb factory but we are interested in what we have seized from his house. It will take expert advice to establish exactly what he has got."
but if it was a Muslim it would be all over the news!

this is the only four sites that i could find that are covering it. its shocking! :shocking:

Plus if they're trying to cover it up its failing as this has been posted twice before on here, and at least once on ARRSE and Urban 75. Plus God knows how many blogs, including one which reports a letter from the BBC

    http://leninology.blogspot.com/2006/10/bbc-on-unreported-fascist-bomb-factory.html

in which the BBC gives an explanation of why they missed it.
I have investigated how the story was missed. It appears a reporter from BBC Radio Lancashire investigated initial reports but the police "played it down". Our regional televison centre in in Manchester found out about the story only after it was reported in the Colne Times. By this time it was several days old. On investigation they discovered that reporting restrictions were in place which severely curtailed what could be said by the media.

Two arrested men are due to appear at Blackburn Crown Court on October 23rd, BBC TV News will attend the hearing

which seems more probable than a media plot to keep quite about the BNP, especially since things like the Guardian, Independent and Channel 4 news are not renowned for their support of the BNP.

In that case, what could be better than to undermine and damage the BNP by revealing to the world some of its members were in possession of a massive cache of bombs and chemicals?

Doesn't get much worse than that...

Yes, but they missed the news because, by the sounds of it, no local journos decided to let any of the national ones know. By the time they found out reporting restrictions were in place and also it was no longer news (a man was arrested a week ago doesn't have the same value as a man arrested yesterday).

Its likely to be covered at trial (and the BBC have said they will). The more I read of this case the more it screams cock-up not conspiracy and the only conspiracy going is those who are trying to make it a comment on the 'politics' of the media.

and I'll post it here as well, my reply from the BBC -

    'Jim,

Thanks for your e-mail and apologies for the delay in replying. We had
planned to cover this issue on last week's NewsWatch programme, but
unfortunately had to drop the item at the last minute because we
couldn't confirm information we needed to make sure our report didn't
    break the law.

The simple answer is that the national BBC should have covered this but
missed the story - it was featured on BBC Radio Lancashire, where the
offences occurred, but should have had wider coverage nationally.
However, it's also interesting that of the national newspapers, only the
Sunday Times carried any mention of the case at all.

I think this is partly down to the way the police locally handled the
whole thing - and there have been discussions about the lack of
    information coming from them.

However, I should point out that much of the information you may have
read on various websites goes far beyond what should be reported once
people have been arrested and charged, and the BBC could not have given
anywhere near that much detail of the case.

But I'm told there will definitely be someone covering next Monday's
    court hearing in Burnley.

    I hope that's useful,

    Ian Jolly
