Im just wondering how do you guys diffine a friend? you know like someone whos always there and so-on.

    For me it's someone who is always there. Also, someone who when they make jokes don't take them too far.

    Either somebody who I tend to see quite a bit and who I like being around, or somebody who I maybe don't see as much but who I know and who knows me and who I could speak about pretty much anything with.

    You don't have to see someone regularly for then to be your firend. I'd say my friends are people that I do enoy spending time with, when we are both available.
    I have loads of different types of friends, so it's hard to distinguish.

    friends are people that care for you, and stand-up for you if you are in need.

    care for you in a sense, that they contact you via msn/phone/email, so they can have your opinion about something, meet up with you, or just tell you something.

    A friend should offer you a bed if you come around his place in the middle of the night plastered as shit

    he should try to help you to get together with a girl...
    ...be honest with you, in case the girl is a maniac...
    ...and console you with booze, talks, parties when it's over.

    A friend stays with you if 5 people agressively confront you at a night out and drives you to hospital if you cut your finger off.

    just a rough outline...

    A friend is someone that will accept me as I am and save my life is needed... That's why I have only one friend... and he did save my life so he is even my best friend, which is not hard really as he is the only one... lol...

    Yeah, I tend to differ between friends and mates (Freunde und Kumpel in german). Mates are the ones I hang out with and have fun, friends are basically mates + they do give a shit.
    Why should she/he?

    I don't mean that as forced, but you know. If you are playing table soccer and she is in earshot, he could drop a comment on how good you play, so maybe you get her attention. If he knows her, introduce you. Give out the cinema tickets in a way that you and her sit next to each other.

    You know, the little stuff, that just says "I am not putting rocks in your path."

    Same here... got few "mates" in London that I sometimes see, but I wouldn't trust them or anything...they are good to have a laugh, party or just have few beers, but that's about it...
