Hi,
Having read a quote from Galloway on Wikipedia about the Soviet Union break-up being the biggest disaster of his life, I have been trawling through the internet for more Galloway quotes.
I found this article by Luke Manning on The Smoke Room but have come across precious little else. Can anyone help?

He doesn't seem to talk much about Russia or the USSR in the press but he clearly has some views.
Cheers

have a look on BBCi, they're normally quick to insult old Georgie boy.
On occasion however he speaks the truth and says what most other politicians think but haven't got the balls to utter.
Cheers to the people that gave advice.
Yup.
He's still an arse though. A good Middle-class commie who isn't willing, it seems, to give up his lifestyle.
The reason I wrote that is because you haven't pressented anything to debate. You've just asked what George Galloway's views were on the USSR.
It's POLITICS and debate... ?
my mistake sovietboy.
That's cool. Cheers.
As we actually do now seem to have a bit of a debate on GG, I like the guy. He always has a compelling argument and is continuously putting thoughts and ideas out there that clash with Western values.
A lot of what he says makes a lot of sense, regardless of his public image.
I know this will anger a lot of people as he gets up a lot of noses. But we need more politicians like him - great speakers who offer a different view. He's colourful for sure and I think that sets him apart.
LOL!
Why?
But I actually think he does a lot of good for socialism and is a firm backer of the poor. Plus he's a thorn in the side of the frustratingly mediocre New Labour.
Anyway, I'm not here to fight his battles. Cheers Blagsta....
Stalinist Catholic?
I just see him as a fundamental Catholic myself, branding himself as a socialist to gain respectability.
It's an old tactic used many times before. Many people abuse the word "socialism" in thier ideology.
Galloway is nothing but a power hungry bastard.
RESPECT are appealing and on first sight, especially to young Muslims, socialists, environmentalists, human rights activists and so on... Personally I don't trust them and believe that Galloway is a champagne socialist who never attends parliament and who, just like the Conservative party is merely opportunist and self-interested.
However, I know a lot of diamonds in the RESPECT party who are nice people... I just don't like the party.
But yes, a lot of white working class people view Respect as being a Muslim party and not for them.
