Here is the thread for nominations for October's book for thesite.org bookclub.

The nomination's will remain open until the 27th of September or until there are 10 books nominated. A thread with a poll and links to reviews of each of the books will then be posted to allow voting to decide which book will be October's book.

Several of you have put various suggestions in other threads for books we could read this month but if you want them to be included in the poll then please nominate them in this thread.

If you didn't take part last month but want to get involved then you are more then welcome to join in! :)

EDITED TO ADD: We've reached the limit of number of options now so please reserve any other suggestion for next month's nominations thread.

I am tempted to nominate the same book again and again until it wins, but since I don't feel too much like a pain in the arse this evening I will nominate Enduring Love by Ian McEwan :)

A Confederacy of Dunces is a good'un, though :thumb:

As A Confederacy of Dunces has already been nominated, I'll throw Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson into the ring.

I fancy Fear and Loathing so that's good. :D

I nominate... Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. It's coming out as a film in the US anythime soon, so I reckon it'll be over here next year.

Is a month enough time for you to read all the way through it? :o

Well I'd nominate Stone Junction by Jim Dodge because it's endlessly entertaining, revealing and I never tire of hearing other's views of it.

I'd nominate Wilbur Smith's Gold Mine. I doubt anyone's read it though, but it's still ace, because of its intense plot.

Blood, Sweat and Tea by Tom Reynolds...
"Have you ever wondered what’s going on inside that ambulance you see screaming past with its sirens on and blue lights flashing?

Does it contain a heart attack victim fighting for their life, while trained medical professionals administer emergency treatment? Or have you considered that it might be yet another ‘maternataxi’ ordered by a woman who can’t be bothered to book a real cab and who then complains she can’t smoke on the way to hospital?

Meet Tom Reynolds. Tom is an Emergency Medical Technician who works for the London Ambulance Service in East London. He has kept a diary of his daily working life since 2003, first as a webside called ‘Random Acts of Reality’ and now for the first time as a no-punches-pulled book.

His award-winning writing is, by turn, moving, cynical, funny, heart-rending and compassionate.

From the tragic to the hilarious, from the heartwarming to the terrifying, the stories Tom tells give a fascinating - and at times alarming - picture of life in inner-city Britain, and the people who are paid to mop up after it. "

I was gonna say that, but I figured I'd sound more intellectual by putting Animal Farm.

I second this nomination too .

Okay, there are well over ten options here so I've made the thread for the poll: http://vbulletin.thesite.org.uk/showthread.php?t=105924

I disregarded Mr Bump (because JsT and Infinite were worried that we couldn't read it in a month!) and the suggestion for John Peel's Autobiography because there isn't one and I wasn't 100% sure which book was actually being nominated (feel free to suggest the actual one next month though).

    Hope that's okay by everyone.

If your nomination isn't on the poll then please nominate it again next month (not you, JsT :p ).
