I've not heard much from this brand of car, good or bad. I don't know anybody that drives one either to ask. They have a cute tiny one and its far cheaper than the corola or civic. But I don't have any one to say, hey, are they shit?

Anybody have experience with them?

They're alright, alot of kits for the money, but don't expect TOO much of them, they are cheap and Korean. Fairly reliable, well built, cheap interior plastics though... but yeah, bargin car. Cheap and Cheerful. Also see:
Dihatsu (Not as good, but alright still)
Daewoo (Getting better, new Lacetti is alright)
Kia (Cheap as it gets! Loads of kit too.)

Chris used to have a Hyundia Accent. I loved it, looked really nice. Was smooth and lovely drive. He only got rid of it because some fuckers drove a trolley into the side door and fucked it up. They said it would need a new door but that was £800+ which we couldn't afford :(

dad used to have a hyundai coupe, which he adored! he had to sell it as it had so many miles on, and he says he preferred that to the VW Golf GTi that he has now, so that tells me something...not sure what, but it must tell me something!

All I want is cheap and reliable (and cute). Though I've never heard anything good about kia's ever or even heard of the other two, gerbil.

Though really my heart is set on the corola, but its (the accent, tweety! :) ) is like 3-4k cheaper cuz I saw in the paper the other day so I got myself thinking.

Thank you for your help :)

I believe they one of the few if not the only car manufacturer to give backup their cars witha 5 year warranty - that must say something

I think their coupe looks quite nice too

I used to know a guy who's nickname was Hyundai. If he is representative of the brand, the car will be small, loud, it's exhaust will make constant high pitched noises and you'll end up driving it into a tree, just to take the fucker out.

    My 2 cents.

Here's the Top Gear Survey results for each car (but bear in mind this is for the 2002-2004 models).

    Out of 159 cars surveyed.

    87 Hyundai Accent (DOWN)

    Engine/Gearbox Reliability 2 star rating
    Electrical Reliability 3 star rating
    Brakes/Suspension/Steering 1 star rating
    Fit/Finish 2 star rating
    Squeaks/Rattles 2 star rating
    Performance 2 star rating
    Handling 2 star rating
    Comfort/Practicality 2 star rating
    Customer Care 4 star rating
    Ownership Costs 4 star rating

    24 Toyota Corolla (DOWN)

    Engine/Gearbox Reliability 4 star rating
    Electrical Reliability 4 star rating
    Brakes/Suspension/Steering 4 star rating
    Fit/Finish 3 star rating
    Squeaks/Rattles 3 star rating
    Performance 3 star rating
    Handling 3 star rating
    Comfort/Practicality 4 star rating
    Customer Care 4 star rating
    Ownership Costs 4 star rating

    21 Honda Civic (UP)

    Engine/Gearbox Reliability 4 star rating
    Electrical Reliability 5 star rating
    Brakes/Suspension/Steering 4 star rating
    Fit/Finish 5 star rating
    Squeaks/Rattles 5 star rating
    Performance 4 star rating
    Handling 4 star rating
    Comfort/Practicality 4 star rating
    Customer Care 4 star rating
    Ownership Costs 4 star rating

So the Hyundai seems fairly average, and the other two are pretty good, but I guess if they cost more, you'd expect that.

ratings from 1-159 in terms of how good they are, 1 being the best, and 159 obviously the worst...

Yeah I was learning in a Getz, took me a while but I just used to it. Disliked the car though. It was ok to look at but it sounded so strange.

I'm learning in a Mini now though :D

I used to have a Hyundai Accent and loved it. I've since got a Kia and going back to Hyundai real soon.

Only problem with these cheaper Korean cars is the spare parts are expensive. I was over £500 for new brake system (Pads, discs, etc..) A caliper is around £200!!
