and I want to copy them

How do I do it because nothing is working.

Is it possible they are protected so you can't do it?

grab a program called dvd shrink, which will copy and re-encode the dvd's so that they will fit onto a single layer disc

When I play these DVDs it tells me to avoid the copy protection!

Will they know if I've copied them?

    naughty naughty!!
There are ways around the copy protection though - a little bit of software will bypass it then you want something like cdClone (or cloneCD, im not sure which) to copy it.

Ok, so like the lovely Gav  sent me that dvdshrink and dvdcypter program and I've managed to copy them.

The memory on my laptop is at an all time low though.

Also, how do you know if your laptop can write on dvds cuz I kinda wanna put all my videos and shit on dvds to create more memory.

If you've got a rewriter then it says "RW" in white in a black rectangle on the drive. Most laptops are just CD-RW and DVD playback though

It just says compact disc rewritable :(

    Poo.

Can I not just put these videos on normal discs?

RW means "rewriter". It's a drive that can write on discs that can be "cleared" and written in again, which I don't think is what you want. Check if your drive can record on DVDs (Does it say something like DVD-R?). If not, no, CDs won't do.

The logo i was desribing is more or less standard across DVD writers, that's why i mentioned it, You *can* Sorta put them onto CD's, but the video quality would take a major hit, and you'd need a dvd player that can play "Video CD's". If you can afford it, get an external DVD-RW drive for your laptop then you can burn proper DVD's :)

What I meant is that she doesn't need an RW, a simple R will do.

neither of these will make a difference anyway because the films are DVDs! what she needs is a DVDR/RW
