    Not everyone who needs a counsellor needs a psychiatrist. and vice versa I guess.

    A psychiatrist usually deals with people with mental illness, eating disorders etc.

    A counsellor is more casual and can talk to people with more general problems.

    Here;

    Definitions of psychiatrist on the Web:

    a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.

    Definitions of counsellor on the Web:

    A counselor (or counsellor) is a general definition for a person who advises.

    ;) Google.

    counsellor is normally a starting point, if they dont resolve the issues u r often refered on to a psychatrist or psychtherapist

    a psychiatrist, doesnt normally spend much time with u. they diagnose, prescribe, and decide on any other support u might need.
    Counseller you go and yap away to to talk things through. Psychotherapist you'd do the same but i think they have a better understanding of mental health problems and the talking therapies that are used to help overcome thing, eg CBT, DBT .

    No, that's the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist .
