A psychiatrist usually deals with people with mental illness, eating disorders etc.
A counsellor is more casual and can talk to people with more general problems.
Here;
Definitions of psychiatrist on the Web:
a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.
Definitions of counsellor on the Web:
A counselor (or counsellor) is a general definition for a person who advises.
Google.
Counseller you go and yap away to to talk things through. Psychotherapist you'd do the same but i think they have a better understanding of mental health problems and the talking therapies that are used to help overcome thing, eg CBT, DBT .
