Our baby ladybird...

Well let's start from the beginning...

Early last week or so, Lenny found a Ladybird larvae, he is having a insects phase atm so we have earwigs, woodlices etc...

Anyway, so we kept the ladybird larvae witht the rest...

On thursday last week, the larvae attach itself by its abdomen and its legs to a leaf... The next day, the legs don't touch anything anymore and it holds by its abdomen only...

The same day at around dinner time, the skin cracked and the yellow pupa is coming out of it... Few hours later it take it's normal colour... They are yellow until their skin is in contact with air...

Anyway, today the ladybird came out of the pupa!!

Just few minutes ago...

Right now it's still yellow, but normally in few hours, by the morning latest it will be al red...

This was an amazing thing to have experience... Nature is just amazing...

Anyway here is what the larvae looked like...

Here is the ladybird as it is now...

Just thought we share with you this little experience...

it is really cool. Were gonna set it free in my mums garden tommorow, so then Lenny can believe it will be living there forever.

aw that's really sweet. Kitana had a bug phase. She would get a ramdom bug and bring it into the house, followed by "look what I found Mum!" Followed by stomage and fits of giggles, which I didn't find that funny. She's stopped doing it now but it does make you wonder- what is going on in that pretty little head???? random bug stompage indeed! strange...

I did not know that either. That is pretty awsome :thumb:

Anybody know what determines the number of spots on lady bugs? Or is it just random.
