Working on holiday camps etc

I was wondering. Has anyone got any experience of working on a holiday camp or the such like?

I have the chance to work for Butlins and i'm a bit :chin: about it. Could do with hearing someone else's experiences!

oooo it's nothing exciting like that!lol. Just general bar work, maybe in the nursery there etc. It's a live in job, was just hoping someone may have done similar or know someone who did?

Don't wanna accept the job, move there and find out it's hell on earth.lol.

Ive known lots of people who work at Butlins

It can go either two ways, you'll love it make lots and lots of friends and never want to leave (a lot of people dont) or you'll feel like a fish out of water and kinda hate it and leave sharpish.

It depends if you can cope with a mega claustrophobic environment, think working/eating/sleeping/partying all on site and only socialising with other workers.

    ooooohhhh i don't what to do.

I've just graduated, can't get a job in my chosen area so thought this would be a good stop gap for a while. But i don't want to go down there, make a complete arse of myself by coming back in like two days but then again, don't want to miss out on something that could be a real laugh and lets face it, its the best time to be doing something like it.

arghhhhhhhhh. Does anyone want to make the decision for me?

    Thanks for the reply though!

Do it. Its a hell of a lot of fun either way...and the people there are such a laugh.

Which one are you thinking of going to?

The Butlins in Minehead. Think i'm gonna go for it. Really can't think of any good reason other than i'm a bit nervous, but if i don't go i'm going to regret it!

I'm kinda in the same position as you.Just applied, got a job and start at butlins in skegness in 2 weeks. My main concern is that i'm 29 and i'v been told most of the people there are aged 18 to 25.I say we just go for it and if its crap, you can at least just leave at any time you want.I think il get a few drunken nights out of it.Good luck!.

I work at Haven holiday camp in the shops. I know quite a few of the staff in all kinds of departments - whether it be bar work, kitchens, maintenance, cleaners or more, shall we say, glamorous stuff such as entertainment. Most of these live on the park itself, and have made countless friends amongst the other staff. I personally don't, and believe I've lost out to an extent because of that.
