i need help in settling a debate.
We all know that public places such as pubs and clubs have to pay for rights to play music.
Would all bars pay the same price per song to have to right to play it regardless on how busy or the size of the venue is? (surely not??!)
and can bars get around this by having a live DJ, where automatically they do not have to pay rights for playing music? (surely not??!)
Thanks in advance hope the questions make sense, and i hope im right

from the Performing Rights Society website.
Even more info - even I got bored going through this one!
if you have a live act you pay for an entertainment licence.
if you sell alcohol you need an alcohol license.
if you have tables and chairs on the pavement you pay for that too.
like dealing with the bleedin mafia!
