It's that time of year again

Once again we are subjected to the yearly debacle of valentines day. I mean it's become stupid, it's become so hyped and commercialised now the real point has almost been forgotten. Its supposed to be a time for couples or new relationships. (hence part of my bitterness towards it)

From what i've observed of it - you could be the most dedicated bloke in the world and buy your partner a gift everyday - but if you forgot about valentines day -it would be assumed that you didn't care. what do you lot think? do you think it's gotten blown out of all proportion?

    I do see your point about valentines day! I would like to consider myself a romantic kind of guy but valentines day has become too comercial! The prices of chocolates. flowers, teddies etc go up through the roof.

    Its just a big con! Why should people be romantic on one day?

    Well obviously Valentines day is great! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif"&gt; (If you own a gift/card shop)

    Okay, heres valentines day from my point of view (or a typical guy who doesn't want to get moaned at by his girl on valentines day)
    • First you have to buy the card. £2.50+ for a pretty standard one right?
    • Then you have to get some chocolates. £5+ from Thorntons (99p from Aldi)
    • Some kind of cuddley toy, to show your cutesy lovey dovey side
    • Obviously the thong/panties with the words "Happy Valentines Sexy" so that they are only good once every 365/366 days
    • All sorts of decorations and party hats
    • Valentines day Mugs
    • Valentines day shot glasses
    • Valentines day pillows
    • Valentines day earings
    • Valentines day nipple clamps
    • Valentines day jacket
    • Valentines day beer coasters
    • Valentines day world tour tickets
    • Valentines day tax
    • Valentines day condoms
    • Valentines day laxtives
    • Valentines day bodyspray set
    • Valentines day tampons
    • Valentines day pokemon trading cards
    • Valentines day eve cards
    • Valentines day 2001cards
    • Valentines day easter eggs

    The list goes on... and guess what, it would not suprise me if they made "Valentines day 2"

    Valentines day is good... but only if you've got a fat wallet, or a gf who doesn't care that much about gifts (That'll be the day) or you're like me and are single this time of the year!! (I'd rather not be tho).

    Not getting caught is only half the fun!!
    I'm the rest!!

    Has anyone seen any trailers "Valentines Day - The Movie" yet? <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif"&gt;

    <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif"&gt; or am I being a tad optimistic on this one?

    I agree with Broken Heart, its become way too comercial. I was actually coming up with that witty list hoping to be the first to post but sadly BH beat me to it.
    I took ages coz I had to find my "Valentines Day joke book".

    (You can stop joking now Insane, its getting boring, (wow he even talks to himself... he's mental!!))

    yeah it's too commercial, but round here we dont make too much of a big deal about it. it's just sweet, and it's great when you have somebody. the best things ive had for valentines day were for free , and no that isnt sex related.
    if you take time to think of something really special, then money can hardly come into it.
    im a hopeless and i would absolutely adore to spend vally's day with tim, but i cant <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif">. grrr. so anyone that can spend it with their someone, ur v lucky.

    Okay, so here's what you do...

    Make each other cards out of anything you have laying around - it shows your creative side and that your willing to spend time and effort on the person you love (plus it's cheaper than visiting Clintons, no matter how big you make it!)

    Make your own chocies, biscuits, heart shaped cakes, etc, together - you can have fun whilst doing it, it's economical, and it always ends up in a food fight that can be followed by a romantic moment when your licking the chocolate off each others noses (and perhaps elsewhere!)

    Valentine's day should be about fun not about how much money you spend.

    Enjoy it folks.

    i've gotta disagree i'm afraid. i think valentines still is the most romantic day of the year, you just have to make it that way. its like christmas - that is only totally over hyped if you make it that way. it can still be special.

    only thing is i don't have anyone to share valentines with this year... oh well.... <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt;

    i'm not denying that women are stupid; God made us to match the men.

    i don't av ne1 2 share valentines day with either <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt;

    actually i was talkin to luka bout it, and we said that it had become way to commercialised, its just all big companies cashing in.

    It's only special if ur in a relationship! (then it has a meaning)

    Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.

    But why should it be just that day your romantic? There are more important days you can be romantic: each partners birthday so you both get a turn and your anniversary whether it be a month or a year.

    perfect solution... my b/f and i are just giving cards, as we did at xmas, not prezzies, coz i don't really see the point of buying something just for the sake of it.

    It's something unpredictable
    But in the end is right
    I hope you had the time of your life
