I think I've blocked my toilet, damn quilted toilet paper.

The water goes in, but where usually it goes out of the bottom (this is my detailed knowledge of toilets) it's just stayed in the bowl. If I flush it again, I think it'll overflow. I don't wanna put my hand in there, cos I'm not sure how much of the water is actually water if you catch my drift. What the hell do I do? Get a stick from the garden and try and dislodge any blockage?

 It'd try to unblock it like that. Or get some strong rubber gloves and brave it.

The water level looks a bit high for that.

    :D that would be good!

This reminds me there was some loser on here a while back who blocked their loo by using newspaper for a few days as none of his flatmates had bought any loo roll. And then he expected his landlord to pay for a plumber to sort it out.

Someone in my old flat did that, a massive 15 inch jobbie that stank the place out.

Lift your tshirt over your nose and get tongs from the kitchen

I'm not trying to break into it.

The stick method didn't work, and it was quite a good stick as well. Can you use drain unblocker in a toilet?

The water level looks a bit high for that.

Put some old towels around the base of the toilet and plunge gently.
Or get a cup and scoop the water and pour it into a sink/bathtub to lessen the water so you can deal with it easier.

Don't worry, it doesn't smell, but I still don't wanna put my hand down there.

Genius. Can't believe I didn't think of that.

You could bail some of the "water" out the loo so you have a lower water level to work with and then use a plunger.

Edited to add: My_name beat me to it on that idea!

your average plunger isnt gonna work on a toilet, your best bet is to get a mop and use that .. push it right in then pull it out and do this a few times, should work ;)

ususally you need to flush the toliet to get a bit of water up for you to do this but it sounds like you've done it already

ive seen this done plenty of times and works fine if you do it right

Wahay! Did it. I did the stick thingy, then the getting rid of the water thingy, then flushed it again, then went to look for a plunger (we don't seem to have one) and when I came back, it'd gone down to a normal level. Thanks for all the replies. I can always turn to you guys in a crisis.

Some of the suggestions here have been pretty rank. I hope you don't use the utensils that you're shoving down the loo elsewhere. :yuck:

Your best bets are either a) wait or b) use a stick or some other item that you don't need any more. I see you went for b).
