  if you want to look like an idiot, put lots of gel through a fringe bit and comb downwards so it looks like spiders legs.

  I have to use a fair bit in my hair... not ott... but I have mine in a kind of spikey messy style. The problem is I have quite thick hair and it tends just to fall over and go flat again if I only put a little bit in!

  very rarely use gel these days unless im desperate, more of a waxy person.
  
  but i always only use a tiny bit, rub it into your hands first then style!

  I don't use wax, because your hair has to be really clean and dry or it just goes greasy and doesn't work! And also it looks quite fluffy when I use wax.
  
  I wet my hair a little bit, then rub a bit of gel into it. Stick it up by kind of pinching clumps in different directions, in a random fashion
