  Spybot will also remove spyware and other unwanted programs/setting, it will also immunize your system... I use it with ad-aware cos ad-aware does't find everything all the time and spybot database is updated more often...

  Well i am attempting to get rid of some popups that just won't go, so thought spyware might do it?
  Its not like any old pop up from sites its grey boxes that come up as and when.

  Yep that an adware, a crappy software installed on your system... ad-aware is not bad for stuff like that so it should do the trick...
