Skinny jeans with wider hips

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Just tried on my decent going-out jeans, and my hips are mushrooming over the top. Can say the same for most of my jeans now, bearing in mind I got most of them before I had hips to speak of.

So, anybody know of jeans that are size 6-8 on the legs (boot cut or flared) and size 10 on the hips? I cannot stand jeans that don't fit well, and it looks terrible when hips mushroom over the top of trousers.

I really don't understand your question. Surely you buy jeans to fit your hips, not your legs? Unless you want trousers glued to your legs all the way down?

I think that the OP is complaining that she cannot get a pair of jeans that fit well at bothe the waist and hips. A lot of people have that problem. Well, I know I do.

I really do not suit jeans that aren't fitted to my thighs. I don't like them to be so tight they're a second skin, but I can't stand them baggy on my legs. I just need them a bit wider on the hips, which is the problem.

Not really, it's my hips that are the problem. Although the one pair of jeans I have that go almost as high as my waist fit well there, and then my hips keep pulling the fly open when I move. That can be really embarrassing.

what you could do, if you were desperate, is buy jeans to fit your hips and then have the legs taken in.

eta: although skinny jeans are just about the least flattering shape to wear if you have big hips and small legs. they'll make your ankles look like they're about to snap and your hips look mahoooosive.

I was trying to think of a nice way of saying that too.

Thats as nasty as the 3xl thongs. There are some clothes that should only be made in certian sizes. (or not at all :p )

Skinny jeans in that size are just wrong to begin with but in white, someone is having a laugh.

I don't want drain pipe jeans (can't stand them!), but couldn't think of any word other than skinny that described the legs, so I stuck boot cut/flared in there too. ;)

Normal trousers are ok, my mum will take them in, but jeans are too much hassle for her, and she says it's not worth it.

ahhh, totally missed that bit. sorry!

i just noticed the words 'skinny' and 'jeans' together and saw red, as skinny jeans are an abomination (that's my easter bible contribution).

jean legs are just as easy to take in as normal trousers, as long as they have at least one leg seam that looks like this:

and not two that look like this:

im the opposite to you, i have a small waist so i struggle to get jeans to fit my thighs and my waist, i normally end up with jeans too big at the waist cos i like then to be looser in the leg!

I have an odd memory of someone telling me about a similar-ish problem, and she said she sat in the bath with them on until the water went coldish, and then got out and dried them, and they shrank to her body size..... personally sounds like a horrible horrible experience, especially if it's just for a pair of trousers, but if you're really desperate.....??

If I try a pair of jeans on that fit on the hips they don't fit on the thighs and I hate that I'm very fussy about jeans and they have to fit properly.

I have a similar problem, my waist is relatively small and as soon as I find jeans that fit round my hips they are huge on the waist and I have to wear them with a belt to stop them falling down.

It's a bit of a hassle to take jeans in and way too easy to mess up! There are some shops that will do it for you (specialist jeans shops etc) or failing that you could try a local tailor. If they can take in suits and dresses, there's no reason why they can't do the same for jeans. I've no idea how much it would cost, but it'd be worth it for a perfect fit.

My Mum's a dressmaker, it's more convincing her that it's worth it in the first place.

I have a similar problem. I've got quite a small waist but i've got hips which is what a lot of makers forget women have :D I get most of my jeans from New Look as they seem to be the ones that fit the best round everywhere.

I find miss sixty are the best for fitting everywhere, although I always go down a size as they tend to get baggier in the wash. Plus they do so many sizes cos they're all 1 inch in difference.
Only thing is their prices have rocketed, difficult to find a pair under 100 quid now.
