Why constipation?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've had a dose of severe constipation and resorted to eating lots of fruit and bowls of bran flakes. Its helped but by Christ its now given me a liquid stream. I suppose it'll sort itself out.

Why do you get constipation in the first place?

Haha. That amused me, I don't know if its intentional or not :p

But yes. Poor diet is one of the main causes.

And don't forget to drink at least 2 litres (8 glasses) of water every day.

I drink loads of water during the day and have an average diet and I still sometimes suffer with it.

They are not always symptons of IBS. I have IBS so I know why I sometimes suffer from the two and I know what triggers them too.

Well if you IBS then maybe something you are eating triggers it off. I know cheese and fatty foods trigger mine off.

Well I worked it out by eating something and then if it tiggered an attack then I knew that that food had caused it.

Keep a diary of what you eat for a while and see if there is a pattern with certain food triggering it.

not enough fibre doesnt cause ibs, its not known what causes it but fibre can help with the digestive process.
