Dying hair

Ok i have light brown/fair hair and i put a blonde dye on it as i want it light like it used to be. Well its not come out like i wanted, its more golden and i don't like that.
So i have bought a different colour but how long should i leave it until i try the new one? Its been a few weeks and my roots are showing too.
Do you think its ok to do now?

    Yeah it should be fine, but from experience I've found that the ONLY way to lighten hair is bleach. All blonde hair dyes just go golden blonde. Maybe you'd be better getting highlights put through it all until it looks lighter all over.

    I would if i could afford it, but i can't. :(
