As you can see, the thread started by Balddog on thugs forcing a Brownie pack from their church hall has been locked, ostensibly due to anti-Semitic comments by Diesel.
Now, it's not often that I complain about infringements of 'rights,' but this is one case where I'm going to raise a small query. I don't question that this is a privately-owned and operated forum and that, when it comes down to it, we have to submit to the Mods' decisions. However, for decency's sake, let's have some consistency!
I have read and re-read the offending thread, and struggle to see how Diesel's comments were any 'worse' than many I have made. I believe I am right in saying that my contempt of all faiths and religons is well-known to the denizens of TheSite. How, then, is it that threads in which my anti-faith sentiment has appeared have remained unlocked?
Is Diesel's crime that he happened to pick on a religon many of whose adherents are currently under attack, and thus receive bleeding-heart sympathy from certain people in a position to shut him up? Are my comments any the less offensive for being general rather than specific.
I look forward to either the unlocking of the 'offending' thread or the locking of many to which I have contributed in an 'offensive' way.
You're damn right we need a rational code of morality and ethics. But not much progress can be made in that direction while we've still got a majority ranting about gods, devils, souls, and absolute morality, and using an ancient book written by ignorant nomads as a guide.

Apparently religion is now something that people cant choose. Its now in the same class as race and gender. I wonder how long it will be before he decides that discrimination against political views becomes illegal...Conservative party members will be jailed soon enough.
They don't need any new laws for that - Aitken, Archer .... starts with the A's !!
So I hear. <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">
Of course. This ties in nicely with what I've been saying all along about faith being an infectios meme that cripples minds. Strange how the perpetrators of this aren't held to account for their actions, isn't it?

If you don't plan something, it can't go wrong
Let's not forget, we are dealing with people, not gods! Just who's agenda is being furthered herein?

Religion isn't a problem in itself, but there are many who would use it to their own ends, as some sort of justification for actions that, in other circumstances, would be illegal, immoral or simply wrong.

It isn't a law to discriminate on religion, as technically you aren't being racist. So as long as you keep your views on religon you aren't breaking the law. It is perfectly legal to walk down the street saying you hate Jews. It is illegal to walk down the street to say you hate Jews who happen to be German.
Are you sure about that??? Im pretty sure that that is exactly what blunketts new laws say. Religion is to become akin to race..An unchangable attribute that it is unfair to discriminate against.
So you think that it would be ok for me to walk down the street talking about my hatred for muslims and it wouldnt be illegal unless I specified the nationality of those muslims?
warchild
Saying all race's suck/ I hate them all, will bring about a different reaction than if you said one spesific race sucked/ you hated it. I think that might be why. I think. Maybe??
"Excellent!" <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/Gif/burns.gif">
I'm talking about current law. Under Blunkett's nannying scheme then yes it would be a crime. But if Muslims can walk down the street calling Christians scum then surely we should be allowed to do it back!
