Just because you might be the average person who slaves away 9-5 monday to friday, to earn your pennies for drinking at the weekend, does not give you anymore right to whinge at me, compared to my rights to whine at you, while you are spending your pennies, and im earning mine at work in a nightclub, working 9pm till 5am

When you think about how many people work random shifts as compared to your typical 9-5 (or 8:30-5 in my case) I betcha theres a ton more working odd hours. I worked retail for 4 years, hated random hours. But I dare not bitch at you.

Why would anyboey is my question.

And by the way, even though I'm a 9-5er, I totally drink every week day, I can't not drink after spending a day at work

because with 7 people working on a bar to the point you only have to dedicate yourself to 2.5 metres of bar length, and people still bitch at you because you are not serving fast enough, and im still going for highest sales for the night, even though i have to keep running away to change kegs, get change, do till voids and all sorts, im not serving fast enough, or im serving people in order, as opposed to their mates stood next to them

or even because they are just cocks, drunk or not

I don't blame you. I hear barwork sucks. My brother is a bouncer. Sometimes he works the bar, but mostly the bouncer. So after spending a week with him I've heard alot and have lots of respect for bartenders. Always tip and never, under no cirmstance, never say, hey bartender, get me this. Just wait your turn, hold out some money and just wait until they have the time to ask.

Never be rude to your bartender. Never. There is never an excuse.

what annoys me more, is not any rudeness towards staff, its when someone shouts at you and is abusive, and then it gets worse, because you refuse to serve them next

i did bar work for quite a few years while i was a student and altho from the outside it looks as if its low paid, unsociable hours jobs i really enjoyed it, and it wasnt bad pay at all, used to get £5.50 till midnight and then £6.00 after and a free cab home, it was like a night out and getting paid for it, at least where i worked. free staff drinks afterwork could go on till 6 or 7 in the morning.

i now work 8:30 - 5:15 monday to thursday and finish at 4 on a friday, its not bad hours but sometimes i can do another 10-15 hours a week in overtime.

I'm just in a new 9-5ish job, and I love the hours and the jobs OK too.

I thought I worked fucked up hours in my last job and couldn't stand it, but to fuck with working 12 hour shifts/nightshift etc :eek:

i love my bar work. i work in a pub, so the latest i ever have to work is until 12, i wouldnt work in a nightclub because of the hours plus its less sociable.

Maybe ive got it easy because i only do about 20 hours a week, but i still enjoy it.
