links between Microgynon and libido?

For about a year now my libido had dropped until its practically non existant. When I was talking to my friend she suggested that the pill may have something to do with this, and before I ask my doctor I thought I'd ask for some feedback. (I read nothing about this on my pill instruction sheet btw)

I know that during a long term relationship the sex isn't as rampant as before, but sometimes I feel like I'd rather feign my period than be bothered to have sex with the missus.

It's upsetting for him and it's annoying me because I used to have quite a high sex drive. Has anyone ever experienced this with the pill? I'm thinking about coming off it and using some other form of protection...

    contraceptive pills tend to have that effect on somepeople...maybe you should try out a female version of viagra or a herbal alternative BUT make sure that both will have no effect on any medication you are taking, just to be safe.

    maybe talk to your doctor about trying a different pill, or using condoms instead, but i think (not sure on this one though so don't hold me to it) that most modes of hormonal contraceptives can have the same effect...but best bet go talk to your doctor...

    When I was on micrognon I had no interest in sex at all, go to your doctors and ask to try a different one. I'm on noriday which is a prooestrogen only pill, only pain with it is you only have 3hours to remember to take it, but my libido is in tact!

    my friend had the same problem with MG - she was on it for years then suddenly it didnt suit her anymore and she had no sex drive. you could ask about a different one?

    I'm on microgynon and i suppose yeah my sex drive has dropped, but then it also coincides with the fact i've been on it two years and also been with my boyfriend two years and for the first year and a half or whatever it was well, as good as ever :p
    so I dunno. I know there is something wrong with me at the minute and has been for a while, but to blame it on the pill seems a bit unfair as it has always worked well for me before, I'm just generally not as happy a bunny as i should/use to be (not with the b/f and sex just in general) and i suppose that has an affect on things.

    I was on Cilest when I was 16, I didn't notice any effects but thats purely becuase I wasn't having sex then. Might be worth my while going to my doctor and telling her then. See I like microgynon because I don't have a regular sleeping routine so I'd be afraid of missing one if I slept in.

    I know its not fair, so to speak, blaming it all on the pill. Lately I feel like I have no energy come mid afternoon. I usually see my b/f in the evenings so when it comes to sex I'm thinking, "whats the quickest way I can get it over with". So it may be my libido thats flagging, or maybe just a lack of energy caused by diet/exam stress/etc.

    My libido was lowered when I was on Microgynon, tis fine on Marvelon though.

    good point. Duhr. Well I'm surprised to hear a few women have experienced this, I'll get it checked out tomorrow. One more thing- is it bad for your health to keep swapping pills? Ive been on Microgynon for about 2 years but I had another pill when I was 16.

    Hiya

    I have only been on Microgynon 3 months but my libido is now virtually non existant!

    It is a silly pill, I feel naff on it. Whilst doing research on the net, it appears that Microgynon is the cheapest one to prescribe so I wonder why they put so many people on it and they don't want to take people off!

    I've been on it for almost 3 months and I'm hornier than ever! I am getting more headaches, but I'm also suffering from stress. My mum's on Noriday, but I have no idea about her libido - and I don't really WANT to know tbh!

    so...what do you do when you wanna change your pill for your sex drive?? literally just go to the doctor and say, 'hey, my sex drive is rubbish, give me some libido back, i want another pill!' ??

    I must admit I'm curious to change pills, I'm on Microgynon and my sex drive is naff at the mo, I'm sure it used to be bigger...

    when i was on microgynon my sex drive went after about two months, sometimes i would even start arguements so that i didnt have to have sex but then i moved to cilest and its fine now!

    I've been on it for years and I've never noticed a change to be honest. The only change has been whether I fancy the guy I'm going out with or not. Research on whether the pill has any effect on libido is still very contradictory. It's like the connection between periods and mood swings, there's reallly not much evidence to suggest it.

    Well, there's not actually a great deal of scientific evidence to suggest to existence of PMT. On a pill such as microgynon, the hormones are at a constant balance, there's no scope for a change in mood or libido.

    I was on it for four years and had noticed a massive drop, but thought it was just due to the fact I was in a long term relationship at the time. Came off the pill altogether and noticed a massive difference within about a month.
