Whats wrong with integration

Just seen Question time arguing if ethnic communities should live with their own culture. Also on the newspaper a minister was accused of racist just because he said ethnic minorities should integrate with the society. Now whats wrong with that? If those people who are not prepared to mix with the society, thinking their own values are so good then why don't they just go back to their home country?
Its just the same way that I hate to see British tourists ignoring the cultures of the local when they go abroad.

I would argue that it is more racist to argue for segregation than integration...what newspaper was that? Probably Heffer in the bloody Mail <IMG SRC="rolleyes.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">
Integration doesn't necessarily mean the loss of cultural identity, but it does lead to a more tolerant society, where everyone is a bit more clued up about other cultures.
People often forget that. But if someone (refugee/worker) comes to a new country, he can't expect to withhold the same kind of life as he used to where he came from.
No one asks them to totally abandon their traditions/religion/morals... But they do need to interfere in society, and show that they didn't come to a new country, to live like they did before.
