    Unbelievable. On a slightly related note, my mum found some of my paintings from my pre school days the other day, from approx 27 years ago.

    At todays market rate I think I'll sell them and retire now.

    A thing is worth what people are willing to pay for it. It seems in this case that people were willing to pay a fortune for it, for god only knows what reason.

    Well klein was a very famous painter, so even having something with his name on it will be considered prestigious and a good investment by some people.

    Exactly the same thing happens when you pay 100 squids for a plain black t shirt by a famous designer - you are paying for the name, not the item. And £1 million pounds is surprisingly little in the art community. Especially for a painter like Klein. The fact that he is dead also drives up the price.

    I just think it is soo beautiful, still,calming and logical. Its personal preference I suppose.
