I've played it before and enjoyed it, but I've got my A2 exams this year, and also it costs tonnes!

No it doesn't ;) But I hear it is quite addictive so maybe leaving it till after the exams is a good idea!

All my old workmates are addicted to it, it's all they talk about when they're not playing it.

Subscription is something around the £7/8 a month mark isn't it? Can you justify £84/96 a year on a game? (Anyone care to confirm this?)

if you want to have any kind of life in the real world i wouldn\\\'t bother, i see what it\\\'s doing my stepsister day in day out, she\\\'s so wrapped up in her virtual reality she is completely clueless about the real world, i honestly don\\\'t know how she\\\'ll cope when she has to look after herself.......that pretty much puts me off playing any computer games anymore, i certainly don\\\'t spend hours and days completing some bare long level or mission like i used to........

Yeah my bf's mate (now ex mate) plays the damn game all the fucking time. He's completely addicted. All he does it play warcraft, order pizza, eat, drink, smoke weed, shit and then play more warcraft. If we go to his place to see him he speaks with his back truned to us and mumbles something now and again. This game has made him ill, a few years ago he used to go out and do normal things like play pool and stuff. He hasn't been out in over a year and he has turned down numerous jobs because of it.

What makes it so addictive? I have seen it and its like really basic to me. Anyways.
Ill say dont play it because a lot of people are becoming addicted to it and there was an article in the newspaper a while ago about some girl in Japan who died from playing the game and not eating and getting enough sleep.

I can barely scrape £30 together let alone £72 or whatever! (wouldn't that be £102, anyway, as you have to buy the CD in the first place? im not sure...)

But im playing guild wars and it does get boring because after you do the quests and get to level 20 all there is to do is play gvg and i suck quite bad at it, so its no fun. You need to have a very specialised build in order to play rather than just playing for fun, which imo detracts from the game. In WoW, you can role paly and still get along in the game, so you dont need to 'max power' your characters and design them before you start the game!

You should leave it until after the exams.

You should see a classmate of mine. He plays a total of 9 hours per day and does nothing else. I feel sorry for him though. 9 hours is just beyond my imagination - really.

I would say, don't get it. It's too addictive. :p

    Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!

I miss that game so much. I played it at least 80 hours a week and I wasn't even hardcore, at £8.99 a month its much better value than a girl friend or going out with mates. And the community is [on the whole] one of the best I've seen in MMORPGs.

Yeah, like what is the fucking objective? When I saw a bit of it it was just this character walking through the maze/jungle thing.

And what makes it so addictive?

cos you can create a person (like in the sims :p) and lead them through their life through a very exciting and immersive environment. i.e. role play!

well, there is no 'end point' of the game. in fact, its not even finished yet. as well as the regular updates including new area's there's an expansion pack on the way. there's a few rumours that there will actually be an 'end big bad guy' but the game isn't really as linear as that. you can collect better gear, do other stuff and...

..you can work on and maintain a 'PvP' rank. which is basically killing other players, lots of them.

what makes it so addictive is that you can totally immerse yourself in the game. its not like a first person shooter where you basically follow a single path. there's different types of characters, millions of items, professions, area's, quests, etc

To the OP, if you have an addictive personality i'd advice leaving it totally. if you can control yourself ( ;op ) then i'd definatly recommend it. Bear in mind if you wish to finish the end-game content it'll require a lot of time, but will ultimatly be rewarding. it'll also help if you set a point where you'll leave the game, like hitting lvl60 or taking down ragnoras.

i've been playing it since around june and just checked out my playing time... 35 days  there's a lot of people online that play a LOT more than me as well. Does it dent your social life>? yes, but doesn't totally destroy it

I only play games when I have nothing else to do anyway :) but I'm waiting for TES: Oblivion. It should have been released in November :( but you know... these things take time. My brother is a total nut and loves WoW, and he lent it to me for a week and I found it quite fun. But will have to see :)
