Huge explosion in Israel club

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
A huge bomb exploded in a packed Israel club in the last few moments, its believed to be a suicided bomber. It was timed to go off just as Sharon was meeting Bush at the white House.

Its thought at least 15 were killed

Some people never learn.
I seriously thought that the recent peace deals would have had some sort of effect.
Any sympathy I ever had for the Palestinian people has drifted away. I hope Israel teaches the bastards who did it a lesson they never forget.

Violence is not an answer to violence. Killing innocent people solves nothing.

You tell that to the Arabs.

Only a race of cowards would resort to suicide bombings. They can't kill the military machine, so they kill civilians instead. A cowardly tactic that should remain in the history books. I only hope that the Israeli security forces find those responsible, and hang them. It's all they deserve.

No I agree with KT.

Tit-for-tat violence is what should be consigned to the history books.

The whole Middle East situation is a mess, and whilst the violence no progress will ever be made. Neither side wants to be seen as the weaker, same as Northern Island. It's pathetic, and the petulant foot-stamping should remain in nursery school.

Comments like this are worthy of the likes of Le Pen. Let me just apply your balanced views and logic thinking to, say, the Israelis.

The nation of Israel is led by a war criminal with the blood of 2,000 people in his hands, wanted in several countries for genocide (and that's from 1970 alone). Since gaining power this man has, among other things, masterminded the destruction of several thousand homes- very often without bothering to warn their residents to get out-, ordered his army to shoot at pre-teen demonstrators throwing stones at tanks, kill unarmed police officers, shot at paramedics trying to reach the injured, prevented ambulances from getting through to the occupied cities, and overseeing a catalogue of atrocities in Jenin that amount to crimes against humanity.

This man doesn't even qualify as a human being, he's a murderous, butchering evil bastard who should be wiped off the face of the earth. That everyone agrees to. Now if we were to apply your brilliant logic to it, all Israelis would deserve the same fate, since they have elected the man and seem to approve of his tactics.

How does that sound to you, Mr Fair and Just?

Its an awful state of affairs.

So if I get attacked by a bully..Say this bully has a gun and can kick the shit outta me easily...Because I cant fight him fair and square, should I go round his house and knife his little sister to death while hes out?

Ah, selective, and out of context quoting, very nice and not very clever.
I said any race that has to resort to killing civilians is cowardly. That's why we stopped doing it when we realised we can kick the shit out of any country without needing to resort to genocide. The fact that Sharon has 2000 deaths on his hands also goes a long way to show how restrained his actions have been.

IMHO the Terrorists and their supporters deserve everything they get now. Nobody can deny that the Israelis have tried diplomacy, and I thought things might have been progressing.

They have noone to blame but themselves. They saw what happened to Afghanistan when the Americans were attacked, they know what Israel is capable of. You don't kill the civilians of a country that has the power to wipe out your country with the push of a button.

Might be a credible argument, if it were not for the fact that the Israeli army has killed many hundreds of innocent Palestinians themselves.

their religous leaders promise them to et to heaven and to get 72 virgins there.
dont try thinkin in reasonable matters to their terror actions.

Fine....Change my analogy...Say a bully killed my little sister and there was nothing I could do about it...Should I go and knife his little sister to death?

You know my feelings about Israel, both are as bad as each other..However, this recent bombing is going to result in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians. Its also going to continue the loss of sympathy for the Palestinians.

They're all bloody nuts. Resorting to suicide bombs isn't a sign of heroism, or even fanatacism. It's a sign of desperation.

These people know they can't beat Israel on even terms, so they resort to this.
They are desperate to Destroy Israel. And they think they can succeed where every other invading army has failed. I would wish them luck, but they don't deserve it. They are desperate, and foolish cowards, who have no comprehension and seemigly don't even care about what will happen to Palestine if the attacks continue.

The reason I cut out the text is because I disagreed with that one sentence. I agree suicide bombers who blow up 17 year olds in nightclubs are evil bastards- but you seemed to have branded ALL Arabs- that's a population of several hundred million- suicide bombers. Like I said, that's like me accusing all Israelis of being like Sharon.

The 2,000 deaths from 1970 refer to the Lebanon war when Sharon was one of the highest ranking officers. As the man in charge in the area he let through several hundred Christina militiamen on their way to a refugee camp, even though he was fully aware of their intentions. Among the thousands murdered that day there were no soldiers or even terrorists, only women and children. But hey, there were only Arabs so who cares, eh?

I can only assume you are talking about Lebanon, the Phalange militia and Sabra and Shatila in 1982.

No, not all Arabs. Just the scutty ones who resort to these sorts of attacks.

As for Sharon, the only person who knew what he was thinking, and knows what his reasons for letting the militiamen through are him. But look at it this way, did he have a choice? Say he didn't let them in, they'd have gone back later, or they would have killed Israeli troops as well. who knows, certainly not I or you. It is something we can only speculate on, and the fact that he didn't order the slaughter, witness it, or take part in it means he isn't guilty of genocide. The Militia men are.

I don't know why America and the rest of us just don't clear off and leave them to it, they are so bloody childish its getting to the point where they are beyond help. Slowly but surely the whole world is getting dragged into it and its going to end in alot of tears

Its a sad situation, but if they won't help themselves then they can bloody well bugger off and destroy one another and good riddance

lebanon war was in 1982,
sure that there shouldnt let the militant lebanese group to access those camps,
but dont charge the all killing on sharon
its not the israeli army who did this,
there are a long years fights between groups in lebanon that got alot of hatred between christians and muslims there
israel indeed supported the christian side.

No you'd need him to smash your house down and move his brother onto your land as well

You'd also need to have your cousins try and invade his land and fail miserably before you resort to attacking his family.

Just an update. Another Palestinian man tried to commit an attack. Fortunately something went wrong, and the only one he seemed to hurt was himself. As far as i know he isn't dead. And that is what he deserves...

So thats 2 attacks within 24 hours. Israel should just let it be, and go on with their lives and just wait for the next attack, huh?

No they shouldn't. They should withdraw immediately and permanently from all occupied territories, demolish all illegal settlements within Palestine, return the Golan Heights and all other land occupied in and after 1967 and recognise the State of Palestine, as per endless UN resolutions have requested, and presto! That'd be end of all hostilities between Israelis and Palestinians, and the two nations could live happily ever after.

Suicide bomb attacks are repugnant and their perpetrators should be brought to justice. But no one wants to stop and think why this people keep doing this, and what could be done to make them stop other than slaughtering the entire population.

Oh if only it were that simple...

What of Hamas and Islamic Jihad who have stated that they will continue with their terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians even if Israel did everything which you just said.

I agree entirely with Aladdin, whowhere. The context didn't make your quote any more palatable. It's people who brand entire other races as 'cowards' who start wars.

The thing that scares me about this is that there's no reason why it should stop. Perhaps it's an effect of growing upas part of a generation so exposed to Tv, films, books, plays - I expect things to conclude, somehow or other. Actually, there's no rational reason why these people should stop trying to kill each other. Neither side has the slightest doubt that they are entirely in the right.
By the wy, another fact about Sharon (not that I have a whole lot of time for arafat either) a man who would have been a key witness in any war crimes prosecution was mysteriously killed when his car accidentally blew up for no apperent reason outside his house. This was on Page 15 or 16 of ONE english newspaper out of 4 or 5 I saw on the day: why wasn't it front page news in all of them?
