where do you get the people for the pictures. Are they people you work with? Do you grab random people off the street?
whos the hugging weirdos? the ghetto monster, the sleepy girl, the help needed chick the psychotically happy nutjobs? you get the hint, do share.

Getty is a photo bank where you pay for images that already exist, and can use them in magazines, films, books etc.

Afaid we haven't anything new the huge resources we'd require to use images from somewhere like Getty - just had a look and one image would cost us about £165 for one use on a page, given how many images are used we'd be looking at 100,000's of pounds.

Some of the images come from stock discs, the manic smiling young people, etc - but a lot come from stock exchange - http://www.sxc.hu/ - a great royality free site.

And, yes, we are thinking about ways we could involve all of you in image creation - so hands up who wants to be the poster girl/boy for a herpes article?

    oh god, herpes, pick me!!

Speaking of herpes, why is it in every herpes medication commercial they all have such a great time? Sitting under waterfalls, kayaking, hiking, they all have partners. Herpes sufferes always are having fun. Almost makes me wish I had it.

If anyone wants to send in a picture of themselves to use for articles feel free - but go for highest quality you can manage and look well... a bit miserable.

It'd be nice to have a collection of real people rather than models.

If you do send them in let us know if there's anything you'd not want your image to be used for - and if you'd want to be contacted whenever it was used.

So, here's the bit where I sound really dodgy... just send the images to jim@thesite.org; I think the email limit is 3meg so keep everything below that.
