when i'm using the machines at the gym they have a table of heart rates vs age.
it says that if you work at 60% of your maximum heart rate then that relates to weight loss. but at 80% that relates to cadio/fitness.

now, whenever i measure my heart rate on the machines i am always at the 80% of my maximum heart rate. does this mean if i do lower intensity exercise i will lose more weight rather than just get fit?

i only want to lose a few pounds anyway and just tone up a bit.

i hope that made sense! thanks :)

low intensity is for burning fat - high is for excercising the heart

You might NOT lose weight cos you may build up muscle which is like 3 times heavier then fat - so best to use a fat monitor

You see so many people going like mad on the machines at the gym when they obviously trying to lose weight

Yeah, you would generally get a bit heavier and become more toned.

would i still become toned if i did low intensity? i only need to lose about 4lbs at the most of fat and just tone up a bit.
