Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
big bad virus will unleash tommorow.
no point putting this as a warning in comps as it wouldn't be much of a warning.
virus released and sent in january.
most anti v will have missed sitting lurking in your machine ...waiting to launch itself on your machine.

destroys ll pdf files ...disables your anti v or attempts.
raids your address book to send itself.
disables your mouse and keyboard.
disables internet explorer.
then ...appears again on the third of each month.
update now ...urgently.

I can't believe that there are still folk out there who would open a file attatched to an unsolicited email. Jesus.

My dad is an IT manager, and he sees people do it all the time. You'd be suprised how many stupid people there are.

its true, there are a lot of supid induhviduals (sic) out there, someone i once worked for asked me to get something off his computer through the network and what did i find? something that would have needed to have the folder options changed to make it available on the network: PAM&TOMMYLEE SEX TAPE.
    :eek2:

the anti-virus software is probably blocking it, way i see it, you have 3 choices:

    1. stay blocked and dont use msn

    2. Turn off the anti-virus and hope you dont pick up anything nasty

    3. Mess around with anti-virus settings a bit and lower the protection a little

You don't need to lower the protection, just make sure the program (msmsgs.exe??) is allowed to run and access the internet. Also be aware though, that it may be blocking it because: (a) you're running something like messenger plus, which it might count as spyware, or (b) your msn is infected with a virus. Just something to be aware might be the case!

People always worry too much, when the number of infected system is nothing to the number of systems in use...

It's true that there is some bad virus out there, but there is never the need to panic like media seems to push people to do...

Well at least it help the sale of anti-virus companies...

Never wonder where all those virus come from...

    exactly mate.
if you release a good virus ...your instantly offered a job with microsoft or anti v companies ...meaning the anti v companies are staffed by virus writers.
noticed how one anti v will spot somethng another companies misses?
    it keeps them in business.

and alls well at my end ...

hmm, dont have an address book, don't use outlook express, don't use IE either.

and I don't open attachments in junk emails either - which as other people pointed out, is stupid :)
