Creature on face - what the hell?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
As sick as it sounds, I returned to work and there is a small lump on my face and I scratched it and this small brown, thin thing came out (had to grip it in nails). About 1 cm long and was attached to like a clear part at the end. It didn't move and looked like it had been sucking blood.

Any ideas what this could be? It kind of freaked me out like a scene from a sci fi film.

Not at all, it was only really small and maybe paranoia getting the better of me. It is rank and embarassing, no lasting damage.

I laugh it off, just really, really strange.....

There is a girl at work who had 'scabies' (hmm, nice place) but cannot be that?

was it a tick? do a google image search.

they quite often latch onto dogs, but they can get humans too. they live in long grass and outdoorsy type places.

It was more like a millipede looking creature.
Now I wish it was just dried blood or something.

I think it may have been an ingrowing hair. I get them from time to time....just as you describe.

Surely (hopefully) this person would have known a hair had he seen one, ingrown or not, it still looks like a hair.

    tick.jpg

Thing is ticks bury their heads in and kind of hang off and their bodies fill with blood, they don't bury under. have you been abroad recently?

I know the botfly larva grow under your skin.

Best way to remove a tick... Lit cigarette on its ass.

Only if you let them get big enough.

I've had hundreds of ticks as a kid, infact I had one under my arm last summer. Living where I do with all the wild animals its not hard to pick them up. Cover them with vaseline and they soon drop out whatever their size.
