OK so say your on the pill and you skip a period, if you randomly stop taking them for a week mid packet aer you protected? As in you take pills for say 5 weeks instead of six and decide to take your week break from them early?

    umm.

    yes. you would have to complete the packet for it to be effective i would think. but then i thought that was common sense.

    you'll still be protected because you're just delaying it.

    (im presuming youre on the pill which has the same level of hormone in each one)

    This is from FAQ: Missing the combined pill : Missing just one combined pill anywhere in the packet is not a problem as long as you can tick off the following: you took the last packet correctly; this is the only pill in this packet that you have missed; and you take the rest of this packet correctly. If you only miss one pill your contraception will still be working.

    Mind you, if you're on the progestogen-only pill (or mini pill) and you're more than three hours late taking your pill or forget to take it altogether then your contraception will not work.

    In terms of all-round protection though (including protection against STIs), condoms are the way to go. Better to be safe than sorry, eh? Kx
