Input Signal Out of Range

I just got the Sims 2 nightlife. But as soon as I go in and start playing the screen goes black and a message pops up that says "input signal out of range" When I close the game even the whole comptuer is fucked up and I must restart. Any ideas?

yeah take a look at their support and make sure you have the latest patch for the game. If there's a safe mode option for starting the game try that.

The reason you are getting the error is because the resolution / colour depth / refresh rate is being switched (by the game) to one that is higher than your monitor is happy to support, but why it should do this I'm not sure.
