Annoying media stereotypes are offensive, maybe I've been watching too much Spike Lee but that ad just made me want to kick some twerp in the nads.

Its a Reebok commercial. Rebok sponsers alot of football teams. Its not about geeks and a big guy, if you notice there are hardly your steryotypical geek in there, just your everyday average joe at work. Its about proper behavior in the office and inforcing it.
If you wanted offensive (or pee yourself hilarous) I could send you my who let the dogs out.

I rarely watch adverts, they annoy the hell out of me. One of the ways in which television advertising works is by utilising stereotypes and broad generalisations to sell a stereotypical ideal lifestyle. Grrrrr

And it wasn't the geek/big guy contrast that annoyed me, it was the civilised office worker/coon.

which is why I asked if it was ironic, because otherwise it just looked like a big poo pants worth of your typical subliminal stereotype reinforcing media bullpat.

we see what we are looking for I guess. In modules I've taken with people who may well end up directing/writing such adverts I've concentrated on black images on screen to counter the massive ignorance I've encountered so I tend to 'read' things from that perspective. Maybe it was just funny.
