Retrieving unsaved files.

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I had a file open yesterday in corel paint shop - an important file. Some bastard closed the file and didn't save it.

Is there a folder where you can retrieve it? I tried opening corel paint shop and looking at recent files, but it wasn't there because it wasn't saved.

I don't want to go through the same mess it took me to get that file.

Thank you.

Isn't there a folder which has all files used during a specific time? Please help me here.

Such a magical folder does not exist, since technically until you save it, it's not a file at all...it's just a collection of coloured pixels in the program.

If computers saved everything you did constantly every few minutes, there'd be no room on them...well for anything.

    EDIT

Actually thinking about it...if you had the file open, and didn't start from new, then you'd be able to get the original file, just without any changes you made.

This is why you should learn to save things as you go along .

your only hope it the Temp folder, but its 99.9-100% a sure thing the files gone. if it is in the temp folder it will have some strange file name. but its unlikely to be there unless it was saved at some point in the past. and then it will more than likely be the old version.

hahaha yeah, i found the Grimsby Street F1 circuit map we made about 3 years ago. It was amazing. It's usually just full of bad photos and even worse songs though.

Don't ever abuse the system on moving threads simply because people haven't replied to your message. The ability to move threads was granted under the understanding that we'd see if people would abuse it. You have, continue to do that and the ability will be removed for everyone.

You have no chance of getting your file back, a tip for the future: save often.
