Brazillian

i know threads have been done on waxing before but i wanted someone to talk to about it. none of my friends have had it done so i can't ask them :(

i had a brazillian today and it hurt like a bitch, which i expected. i am pretty shocked though that i have next to no hair left. i usually shave everything off anyway apart from a strip. but i didnt expect to be left with such a teeny strip, i look like a porn star!
is this normal or do strip widths vary?

i asked the waxing lady how long it will last for and she said a couple of weeks. a couple? surely it should last more than that? she said that i should have it re-done in 6 weeks. so that means 4 weeks of stubble and hair growing. is this the same for everyone else? or will i be smooth for longer than that.

also.. how long will it take for the redness and the discomfort to go away? i had a bootycall tonight and i'm gona have to cancel :grump:

    sorry couldn't resist.

my friend had a brazilian and hers killed, too. and she went as red as a tomato. she was hoping her boyfriend would like it but he didn't want to go near her incase he hurt her! i think she said it took about 2-3 days to calm down. the next time she had one done it was fine.

i would suggest putting some moisturiser of some sort on it but they advise you not do, don't they?

ithey advised me to buy tea tree oil cream and to exfoliate every other day to stop ingrowing hairs.

Aloe vera gel should take away some of the redness and pain...

i'm sure your bootycall wouldn't mind a bit of redness anyhow. you could always turn the lights off, though might sting a bit too much anyway. it'll look tip-top in a day or 2.

When I've had the ol' Brazilian wax it didn't hurt (or at least I've got a high tolerance for pain). It lasted a couple of weeks. The regrowth was quite itchey. I got asked how wide I wanted the strip- "severe" but with just a bit of hair to remind mr whoever that you have definately reached puberty.

I am considering getting a wax but wondering how much to take off. Is it really all that painful? I have had a leg wax and didnt find it that bad, although I can imagine waxing your fanny would be alot worse.

well they don't actually do your fanny. :p

when i had mine done, it wasn't that painful at all and there was no redness whatsoever.

however some people (such as lipsy) aren't as fortunate.

it's weird, 'cause i have quite sensitive skin.

The two times I've had it done professionally they did the bum crack.
It does suck though getting it waxed as, what lipsy said the person said, the smooth hairlessness lasts about 2 weeks, then comes the pricklies and the waiting for it to get long enough to do it again. But shaving irratates me too much so I'm stuck with waxing.

its not that painful but everyone is different. the best thing to do is taking two paracetmols an hour before you have it done and that stops the pain a little.
the redness should go down within 24hrs of having it done if it doesnt you are best to use camomile lotion or tea tree lotion. also avoid having a hot bath/shower for 24 hrs.
it should last 2-3 weeks before the hairs start to come through again but everyones different.

    hope that helps :)
