period in middle of pill pack

I'm on the pill (microgynon 30) but randomly in the middle of this months pack, I've had a normal period. At first I thought it was just spotting or something because I missed a pill the other day (took it with the other one the next day though). I've carried on taking the pills as normal but it just seems really strange. Is this normal at all? I haven't run the last two packs together or anything. I'm just surprised as usually I'm regular as clockwork.
Any reasons why this happened? :confused:

    hmm. well I think it's happened before. I hope this doesn't meen it's ineffective, does anyone know?
    I don't really want to have to change pills as other pills seem to have more side effects. Might ask the doctor cos I need to go there soon about something else too.
