What to do about di Canio?

Another day, another facist salute from everyone's favourite Ultra.

Given how UEFA mouths off about how its "kicking racism out of football", are we going to see di Canio and Lazio given huge fines, and in di Canio's case a ban measured in years not matches?

di Canio says its all OK because its just the Jewish community in Rome who were upset by his actions.

Will anyone punish him? Like hell they will, Italian footballers and Italian football can do what it wants, free from sanction, just like always.
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

    The Story

Considering this has been his second offence in less than a year then a lengthy ban is surely the only sensible outcome. What's the sense in fining someone £10/k when they earn £50/k a week. That's like fining me or you a fiver.

Imagine for one moment he's doing a Roman salute, very alike to Hitlers yes but he is a Roman, it will be viewed as facist etc by a lot of PC people but in Italy it's not offensive or at least that's what I read. Perhaps it is wrong due to the resemblence to that of Hitlers and he should respect that.

    Alan, you're talking crap, mate.

Given half of fucking Rome is up in arms about di Canio's disgraceful behaviour, it is neither "PC people" (what are they, is it like PC World?) complaining without reason, nor "not offensive" in Italy.

Go and look up the history of Lazio. Go and look up how their fans unfurled a 50 foot banner declaring "The ovens are your houses" to the (largely Jewish) Roma fans.

It's a Nazi salute, just like the last one, to pander to the Ultras filth that support Lazio.

no need to say im talking crap was only giving another side of the arguement.

    Pc = politically correct.

DiCanio has professed his admiration for Mussolini and has even got "Dux" (Latin for Duce, Mussolini's title as leader) tattooed on his arm!

He's nutty as a fruitcake and facist but it's about history to him and not nazism

But he wouldn't be saying the same thing if HE was a Jew living in Rome and a football player did exactly the same to Jews then, would he?

They should do what they say, and kick racism out of football. It is pretty comprehensive that the guy is a racist. Kick him out of football. Life ban.

Any fan found doing it would be given a life ban. Why not the players????

He did it again this weekend and has claimed that he will do it at every match he plays in, apparently.

Not sure whether this is about publicity now that his career is coming to an end anyway... Still a moron though.

I'd call him worse than a moron to be honest.

And there was me thinking that overall he was a decent human being (despite pushing a referee out of the way in what was frankly a rather funny episode)...

maybe the national governments of said players, should fine them, by decresing their tax brackets, therefore to stop paing high fines, they have to play crap and not get any bonus', or play good and not see any benefits, that would teach the little beggars

Wow. I bet he's scared shitless & learnt his lesson. Well done to the Italian FA.

    Cracking isn't it.

Especially in the wake of the FIFA chief's comments about cracking down on racism yesterday. Nearly fell off my chair at his hipocrisy...

To be expected, the Italian FA- like the Spanish- couldn't care less. Look at how Mijahlovic was "punished" for his spitting and swearing at black players.

The English FA are no better though- look at how Donovan Ricketts was shafted by the shitheads in Soho.

To be fair, he did gesture to fans and that is an offence. His actions could have made the situation worse.

Where the FA failed was in not doing something to the fans involved.

He's arguing that the Roman salute technically isn't racist, and technically he's right. Fascist ideology doesn't necessarily comprise a racial aspect.

He's a nutcase, but at least he provides some entertainment.
